Jaranwala community water project

Boring in Jaranwala begins. Many of you have been asking for a progress report on our Jaranwala water pump project and I am pleased to advise that the project is underway and we hope to have two of our pumps installed by the end of the week.  Money for the project was given by a Christian charity who work mainly in Africa.  They will be paying for Mehwish Bhatti to go on a trainers course so that further help can be provided to this carpet-making community through the set up of a 'Village Savings and Loan Scheme', entrepreneurial skills and start up assistance. Watery treat for Pakistan Day decided on UN World Water Day!

Image of the BPCA pump we installed for gang-raped Christian teenagers Sherish and Farzana. We are very pleased to announce that the BPCA has received funds to build five water pumps for the deprived Christian community of Jaranwala.  Many living in this community have suffered the ignominy of poor health and regular taunting because of the inability to wash properly and drink clean water.   Poor Christians in this community earn around £600 per year and the boring of pumps would cost over a year's salary.  No help has ever been provided to the Christians of this community despite it being the worst off community in the area....

For more details on the two sisters please click here I cannot say I am shocked by the number of people misunderstanding the need for better bathroom facilities for Sherish and Farzana, but I can say I am disappointed that people have missed the purpose of our recent project.  Sherish and Farzana were brutally raped after being abducted at gunpoint by three local Muslim boy's from their village.  The three boys had constantly been pestering these girls, despite their staunch belief in chastity before marriage a concept that is described in no uncertain terms...
